Educational Requirements and Standards
First: Each Professional Personal Trainer and Exercise/Fitness TherapistSM must be certified with one of the following NCCA recognized Professional Personal Training Certification Companies: National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT), American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), International Fitness Professional Association (IFPA), International Sports Science Association (ISSA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF), National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), The American Academy of Health, Fitness, and Rehabilitation Professionals (AAHFRP) or Cooper’s Institute. All trainers must also be CPR and AED Certified and are required to keep their certifications and knowledge current.
Second: As necessary and creditable as the above mentioned certifications are, they offer no extended practical (hands-on) experience. Being that 99% of these certifications are 90% written and 10% practical, the National Academy of The Personal Health ApproachTM (NATPHATM) designed and developed a practical hands-on experience certification course that each and every personal trainer must complete before they are allowed to take a client though a personal training appointment on their own. The certification course takes 240 hours to complete and is 85% practical and 10% written. This type of certification course ensures a consistent level of “education and hands on experience”. Therefore, there are no new or inexperienced trainers under
Third: Exercise/Fitness TherapySM (Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Programs for Bone, Muscle & Soft Tissue Injuries and Prevention and Treatment Programs for Chronic Conditions, Diseases & Disorders) is an entirely different ball of wax. Exercise/Fitness TherapySM not only requires additional but advanced levels of hands on experience, education and certifications that all trainers must complete and pass before they can take a client through one of these specialized Exercise/Fitness TherapySM Programs.
Forth: In addition to all of the requirements mentioned above, the National Academy of The Personal Health ApproachTM (NATPHATM) provides ongoing education through bi-monthly lectures, weekly articles, monthly newsletters and both practical (hands-on) and written tests on all materials covered throughout the year. The practical and written tests are designed to ensure that the trainers are constantly upgrading their knowledge of the Health, Wellness, and Fitness industry as well as the injury prevention and rehabilitation industry. Each trainer must pass these tests in order to maintain their certification status. This ensures an ongoing consistent level of education and credibility.
Each Professional Personal Trainer and Exercise/Fitness TherapistSM is educated according to strict training practices emphasizing proper form, technique and function.
